Start / End: Car park at Leavening conservation area
Distance: 4.16 miles
Time: 2 hours
Map: OS 300
A lovely walk with some very quiet on road walking (mainly uphill) which made it a lot easier and great views from Leavening Brow itself.
Start / End: Westow
Distance: 6.1 miles
Time: 2 hours 45 mins
Map: OS 300
Using green lanes, this walk explores the countryside around the lovely villages of Westow & Leavening. There are a couple of stiles for dogs to scramble under and it can be boggy after rain - timed right, though, it’s a good one! And if you want refreshments before, during or after we can recommend the Blacksmith's Arms in Westow and the Jolly Farmers in Leavening.
Start / End: Gatehowe Road, Hanging Grimston
Distance: 3.5 miles
Time: 2 hours
Map: OS 300
An extremely scenic walk with glorious views, but it was slightly tricky following the route through some of the fields, there were 6 stiles and it had a steep ascent at the end of Hanging Grimston Wold. Still worth it though!
Start / End: Kirby Underdale
Distance: 3.69 miles
Time: 1 hour 45 mins
Map: OS 294
This is such a lovely walk in the dale above Kirby Underdale for a frosty day, which is when Bill and I did it - BUT - I would advise to save it for after when it has been dry for a while as it includes scaling a fence / dog paddling when wet!
Start / End: Back Lane or Settrington Village
Distance: 5.37 miles
Time: 2.5 hours
Map: OS 300
Definately try this walk on a sunny day as it affords some glorious views. It has a couple of ups and downs and stiles, one of which unfortunately unsuitable for big dogs. There is also a perfect bench spot for refreshments.
Start / End: Kirkham
Distance: 4.6 miles
Time: 2 hours
Map: OS 300
Tricky - BUT - it will be fab summer amble. The first few miles are lovely, down the River Derwent and you can visit the small church in Crambe, BUT BEWARE there are two stiles which Bill just managed to scramble under, and a railway line to cross .
