"Hi. My wife Sally and I live in Pocklington. We are both retired and have a boisterous 20 month old Giant Schnauzer - Norman. Your site is great and we will definitely be investigating your walks (no stiles though as the boy weighs 46 kilos!). Cheers." - Barry (September 2023)
"Absolutely fantastic idea and a great website. We live on the Yorkshire Wolds ourselves in West Heslerton but are always looking for new walks to go on. Can't wait to try some of these out. Thank you Bill 😊😊" - Steve (October 2023)
"Wanting to say Hi I am just looking at your lovely website, I saw your card at Field House coffee shop today, I love walking and have a black lab who is 20 months, I live in Nafferton and love to find new walks, especially feel better emotionally and physically after a good dog walk. Relatively new to the area after moving from Northants. Thank you" - Fiona (November 2023)
Thanks for yesterday Sarah. Great walk and Milo loved it. He had his tea and then went to bed and didn’t move till 7 this morning! . Didn’t even go out for a wee! - Simon (June 2024)
"We have had a fab day, the instructions were excellent - what a fab walk (we did the walk from Cobdale Cottage). Thanks again" - Lucy (February 2024)
"Hello, really enjoyed looking at your your beautiful dog, the walks, the other dogs, etc. Fantastic. Wish I lived in East Yorks!" - Debbie (April 2024)
"Just want to say a massive thank you for the fantastic walk you organised today . As you know I was a bit dubious about whether or not I would be able to do the walk . We have met some lovely people today and hope to see them again soon." - Mandy (April 2024)
"Just wanted to reach out and say what a wonderful website you have and how much I enjoy reading your blog posts. We sadly don't have a dog (lifestyle and work precludes us from being good owners!) but maps, walking, history and wildlife are some of my greatest passions, so plenty of your content still really resonates! We live in Wilberfoss so have got lots of inspiration from your walks recently, so keep up the good work!" - Lee (June 2024)
"My holiday cottage guests love your Facebook excellent information on beautiful walks" Helena (August 2024)
"We’re heading home after 2 nights near Warter and wanted to say thanks for your website as it was really helpful to us. We have a rescue Labrador and it’s only our second time away with him -walking him isn’t always easy as he reacts to other dogs so it was great to have access to easy loops and know what to expect.
We did the poetry bench walk. (In thick mist!) and ate at the Wolds inn afterwards. Just wanted to send my appreciation" - Emma (October 2024)
"A big well done for today. Everyone seemed to be having a good time, and Paws for Tea is a brilliant addition to the tea room. You all put a lot of hard work into today". -Alison and Nell (Member since November 2023)
"My husband and I were looking to join a group of some sorts to enjoy our beautiful countryside in Yorkshire and meet new people. I came across the "Bill and Mrs M Club" and thought this group sounded interesting and our dogs were welcome too. We joined the club and have enjoyed some wonderful guided walks with interesting historical facts provided by Sarah (Mrs M) who is a font of knowledge in the local area. Sarah provides a friendly relaxed atmosphere but of course Bill is the star attraction. He's such a friendly dog and sets a good vibe for the other dogs. We have become healthier since joining Bill and Mrs M with lots of walks to follow carefully mapped out by Sarah to explore independently. Being out and about lifts our spirits and a nice pot of tea and cake along the way with a nice friendly bunch of people is just what we needed. We look forward to more events in the future and will continue our journey to better health both physically and mentally thanks to the Bill and Mrs M Club. " - Helen, Bear and Blu (Member since November 2023)
"A friend suggested we joined Walking the Wolds with Bill and Mrs M . I had some reservations as my health hadn’t been good ,with deteriorating knees and back problems .I needn’t to have worried as Sarah and Bill we’re so welcoming and happy to walk to the slowest persons pace .These well thought out walks in the wonderful Wolds, with breath-taking scenery and wildlife are accompanied by a little history and interesting facts along the way. Ending with a meal at a local dog friendly, café or vineyard makes for an uplifting day out. The best thing of all we can bring our doggie mates along and they love it as well ..they get a meal and treats . For £25 a year the welcome pack for my dog the health benefits both mental and physical and the introduction to new places and businesses is worth every penny. Not forgetting Sarah’s informative blogs and Facebook pages. Sarah and Bill have set up a remarkable new venture that has given me a new lease of life. Thank you Sarah and Bill". - Glynis and Meg the Whoodle 🐶 (Members since November 2023)
"We moved to East Yorkshire in early 2023. We have a black Labrador and we were unsure of where we could walk with her as we were unfamiliar with the area. In October of last year I googled for walks in the Wolds and the Bill and Mrs M website came up. I was delighted because she had posted many suitable walks to take your dog on. We started doing one every week and continued through the winter months and into the spring. It opened up many new areas for us and our dog just loved them.
When Mrs M (Sarah) started doing group walks in the spring we went along and now have done 5 of them. We have met many new people and their dogs as they are very social events. We have enjoyed having refreshments after the walk at different venues and even a winery has been included. I have trained my dog not to run in the farmer's fields and really worked on her recall. She is much better trained now because of these walks.
I look forward to them for the joy of walking our dog and the fitness it provides for me. Mrs M's business has grown significantly and she now has many partners of various businesses in the area. She has met a need for dog owners and has been very successful. She, herself, is very personable and her dog, Bill, is very sociable and a greeter to all the dogs and is delightful. Mrs. M also is encouraging dog owners to be responsible on farmland and to respect livestock and crops. I highly recommend Walking the Wolds with Mrs. M and Bill." - Susan and Rose (Member since November 2023)
"At the beginning of the year my husband and I wanted to start walking in the countryside to improve our health and wellbeing. When we first met 40 years ago we loved hiking but over the years haven’t got out walking. The Bill and Mrs M Walking the Wolds has brought this love back into our lives. I know we wouldn’t have achieved this without Walking the Wolds. Sarah’s walks gave us easy to follow maps and written instructions , distances, indications of hills and difficulty. The details guided us from easy short flat walks to exploring the beauty of the Wolds and finding fabulous café stops ! The guided walks have been wonderful. Meeting lovely people and many wonderful dogs has been such a joy. Thank you Sarah for brightening our days. We have many more walks ahead" - Tricia (Member since December 2023)
I just want to say thank you for starting and running this wonderful mad group. For all the work you put in constantly to put on events and walks. You have enriched many people’s lives, not least that of Tricia and me. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️ - Richard (Guest of Member since December 2023)
"Sarah has done an amazing job in bringing a significant number of people together through both her business, and, social networking - for the Bill & Mrs M Club, Walking the Wolds - in a relatively short duration. It's good to see a diverse selection of Yorkshire businesses benefitting financially from our group visits, and, appearing to enjoy them! Many are also promoting other partners within the group which is good for them, and, raises awareness of other services available to us as members. Some people I know through cycling have joined the group, so we now enjoy socialising at various group events with our dogs, and have tried out routes as a small group of friends too. Sarah makes everyone feel welcome, and I've noticed her taking new members "under her wing" and making sure she spends time chatting with them, particularly if they are on their own". - Viv and Jimmy Beagle (Member since December 2023)
"Being someone who loves walking, but with limited map reading and navigational skills, I decided to join Walking the Wolds. The choice of walks is phenomenal. The descriptions, one minute videos and hints where livestock could potentially be are most helpful and appreciated. I love the group walks, they are well organised and friendly, if only I had more time to get out there and do more. I didn't realise just how many walks are on my doorstep. Thank you Bill & Mrs M, for Walking the Wolds!" - Jackie and Darcie (Member since January 2024)
“I first found Walking on the Wolds through Facebook and started to follow the pages last autumn. I have since completed over 18 walks plus a couple of group walks with my German Shepherd Ziva. The walks have taken me all over the Wolds, where often roads are nowhere to be seen. My dog loves being off lead and in the water so the walks are perfect for us. I love the way we get a map, full instructions and local history information. I do these walks most Saturday afternoons and really look forward to it. I used the longer ones to train for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks which I completed at the being of June. So thank you Sarah and Bill for such a wonderful set of guides and the chance to meet many other dog-walking-loving people” - Linda and Ziva (Members since January 2024)
"I became a member as wanted to get out more and see the fantastic East Yorkshire countryside as not familiar with the area as having moved here a short while ago . Sarah’s walks are very interesting with her knowledge of the area and historical facts she gives us on each walk . You can access all the walks which she and Bill walk through on our members web page which is great as you choose from a variety of different types of walks depending on your own abilities . For me it was also a challenge having just recovered from Breast cancer I wanted to try and improve my fitness and confidence in getting back into a normal healthy lifestyle . Thank you Sarah" - Mandy (Member since April 2024)
"Thank you so much for a really fabulous walk today. I really enjoyed it (and so did Amber). The tea and cake 🎂 was so good, thank you Rachel).Looking forward to meeting up with you all again soon". - Kath and Amber (Member since April 2023)

"Thank you to you too for organising it a brilliant evening with lovely people and their dogs. Thank you from the dogs for their treats and bandanas such friendly kind staff at Laurel Vines Vineyard and Winery delicious supper". - Amanda and Mist (Member since May 2024)
"Have been on two walks so far with Mrs M & Bill aka Walking the Wolds. Although I do not have a dog of my own I enjoy seeing them run & play together where conditions allow. Their owners are expected to have control of them & to respect the Countryside Code. It would seem that all walks have an element of refreshment built into them which certainly gets my vote. The places I have visited so far work in conjunction with Mrs M & the member's receive discounts or free items. It is good to see local businesses supported & to see that they all look out for each other. Although I regularly walk on my own it is very pleasant joining such a well organised group & to meet like minded people. Looking forward to more group walks plus trying some of the member's only walks from the website. " Chris (Member since June 2024)
"We met Sarah and the fabulous Bill just as they were starting their adventure with Walking the Wolds in October 2023 and it has been our pleasure to see them flourish ever since. Sarah is always enthusiastic, encouraging and supporting in her work with both her customers and “partners”. Her guided routes are clear and informative and are extremely popular in our coffee barn. Her passion for the outdoors together with her love of dogs is infectious." Field House Camping & Coffee Barn (Partner since October 2023)
"We have worked with Sarah and Bill from Walking the Wolds since the summer of 2023. Sarah contacted our business to see if we could support her new venture by being a partner and therefore also supporting us. This has now led to our bespoke biscuits being supplied to Sarah directly and her customers. This has added 40% more turnover to my business and as it is also in its first year this has been a massive support to me.
Sarah has taken her business and grown it quickly and this has been done with hard work and imagination. She has brought many businesses in the county together with all of us supporting each other.
Her ideas and events are well thought through and social media content professional. She is a bundle of ideas and an asset to the area and it’s tourism !" Brodie & Bertie's Bakehouse (Partner since December 2023)
